Acmeology (from the Greek akme - the highest degree of something, blooming power) is a scientific branch that studies the phenomenology, patterns and mechanisms of human development at the stage of its maturity and especially when it reaches the highest level in this development. The term was proposed in 1928 by N. A. Rybnikov.

The peak of a person's maturity (Acme) is a multidimensional state that covers a significant stage of their life and demonstrates how much they have accomplished as a person, as a citizen, as a specialist in some professional field of activity. At the same time, Acme is never a static entity, but is characterized by more or less variability. Modern acmeology is primarily interested in the age at which people of different professions reach their heyday and how long they are established at this level. At the same time, the main problem of acmeology is not so much the chronological length of full maturity, but the state of mind of a person that can turn any life period into a period of prosperity.
