Voluntary and involuntary emotions

01 октября 2022 г. в 21:23

Arbitrary emotions are emotions that a person can control at will: cause, strengthen, stop. Involuntary emotions are those with which it is impossible or very difficult to do this.

Externally indistinguishable emotions can actually have a completely different nature, which is why one emotion can be controlled, arbitrary, and the other is not. See Emotion Management

Thus, emotions are divided into emotional actions and reactions, and emotional reactions are divided into operational and reactive emotional reactions. Emotional actions are usually quite arbitrary and manageable, emotional reactions are poorly controlled, and some of their varieties (anchored emotions) are practically uncontrollable, involuntarily arise and cannot be turned off at the will of a person.
